Kyle Hobratschk has nestled his etching press and printmaking studio into Oil and Cotton’s adjacent room since 2011, upon graduating from SMU with a degree in painting and woodworking. He opens his print shop for weekly copper plate etching classes, occasional watercolor workshops, and finds delight working with teenagers to practice drawing skills.
An hour south of Dallas in a town named Corsicana, Kyle has founded 100 West, an artist retreat and collective in an Oddfellows Lodge from 1898. The three-story building provides lodging and studio space for artists, writers and performers seeking grand rooms to execute projects requiring generous space for creation, installation, and exhibition, with access to a woodshop and printmaking studio.
Kyle produces joinery-focused furniture and architecturally based drawings, etchings and paintings.
